Hrithik’s ZNMD resembles ‘The Hangover’

Hollywood’s 2009 movie ‘The Hangover’ not only was the surprise blockbuster of that year but it proved to be a financial success as well. It became one of the highest-grossing films of 2009 beating out the big budgeted Hollywood flicks.

Now it seems The Hangover’s hangover has got onto our tinsel town filmmakers also. The spice is rolling out that Zoya Akhtar's upcoming flick ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is the desi version of the Hollywood comic caper.

After the news of film’s posters stark similarity to 'Lords of Dogtown' broke out, now the latest buzz swirling around the B’town reveals that Hrithik – Katrina starrer ZNMD bears an uncanny resemblance to the 2009 English mega hit.

As a result of which Feroze Nadiadwala, who bought the official rights to make the Hindi version of ‘The Hangover’, had to scrap his plans.

A source confirmed, "We heard there were similarities between Zoya Akhtar's film and ‘The Hangover’ and so we've decided not to go ahead with it."

In Philip's comedy the four friends sneak off to Las Vegas to celebrate one of their friend’s bachelor party. Similarly in ZNMD also, Hrithik Roshan, who is about to get married to Katrina Kaif , takes off to Spain with his buddies Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol.

The source added, "Like The Hangover, the concept of ZNMD is that marriage marks the end of the kind of fun boys usually have when they are single. The trio goes out and party it up."

Contrary to the buzz that surrounds, Farhan was quoted as saying, "It does start off as a bachelor trip. But that is where the similarity ends."

Anees Bazmee, who was to direct the remake, confirmed that the movie is a no-show. He told, "Feroze Nadiadwala and his co-producer had acquired official rights to remake The Hangover and I was supposed to direct it. I don't know what happened there is another Hindi film coming out with the same theme."
